iMac Trouble

Apps not appearing to have shut down
I spoke to a prod specialist, but my system crashed before I could save his callback info.

9/24/09
First Call
Blue screen on start up.
Found the case # above from Apple. First suggestion was HD failure. I reset PRAM. Will do disk utility. Have an appointment at Apple store today. Ug.

Second Call
Disk Utility to see if I could do any troubleshooting. Disk Verify failed. It was preparing/? for an hour. Apple Care had me force quit it. Before that, I force quit TimeMachine. Would not shut down, so I had to manually shut down by hitting the power button until it powered off.
