7.20.03 I can't find the sheet I keep in my car
I arrived at Lazy Bear Weekend not planning on staying in Gurneville, but I saw how easy it would be and decided to accept the invitation to crash with other Billies with campsites. When I was trying to figure out my bed setup, I noticed that the king-sized flat sheet that I keep in my car for just such occasions was missing. Where had I been?
I unrooted my consciousness firmly planted in the present and dug for memories, both of generally what I'd been doing since I left the trail and specifically, why I knew the sheet should be there and what might have happened to it.
Let's see. Before Gurneville, I spent a night at Sam P.'s. Johnny Smith was also there. I slept in Johnny's bed, the bed he sleeps in if Sam starts to snore. What I remember is that I had a hard time getting to sleep, and that I was very aware of the noises of the neighborhood. I heard a lot: a distant dog barking, somebody starting their car, and many other sounds so mundane that they normally go unheard. For some reason, that Thursday night I was hearing them. I slept well, but was up early. The noises, lost to sleep, were back. The dog barked closer. The freeway noise was refreshed after a night of rest, and Sam's neighborhood was coming alive.
I knew when I recalled that I'd most recently been at Sam's that I did not use the sheet at Sam's.
So, before that I was at Samantha's in Napa. They belong to a pool, so I went swimming with them most days. I was thrilled to see how well both Bailey and Jack can handle themselves in water. The have an X-Box video game which I really enjoyed playing, especially the SSX Tricky, the snowboarding game. I chose sexy, faux-Buddist Brody as my character. The driving game was outrageous in the the amount of mayhem, in either Washington, D.C. or Paris it allowed, in fact required to win a game. Andrew was out for a teaching gig and was able to visit for a day. It was great to see him.
My long visit in Napa was interupped by a pleasant visit and overnight stay with Leonard in Sebastapol.
I recalled, as soon as I placed the memories, that I had not used the sheet at either place.
The time with Leonard was enjoyable. I met the boyfriend (Stephan) he had just met when Leonard and I first met and had our amazing sexual play. Leonard and I definitely have a strong attraction. The limitations of his monogomous relationship created an interesting flavor to the visit. I was there, aside to see more of Leonard, to see his accomplishments on his house. The visit, in some ways, was a celebration of what Leonard has done. I felt honored to get to see inside and to witness his accomplishments within the attraction. My life is better for knowing Leonard.
Before I returned to Napa, after Leonard's, I visited Bill and Zhora in Camp Meeker. Bill and I have a great connection, and this was the first time I've seen him outside of a gathering context. We spent a lovely part of an afternoon on his back deck under the redwood and bay enjoying the warm breeze and gentle conversation.
Before Napa, I was at the Billy Club Independence Day gathering. I stayed with David in Henry, where I did use the sheet. Had I left it in Henry? No, because when I ended up at the last minute staying Sunday night, I used it in the cabin I had to myself.
Where was the sheet if it was not in the bag with the blanket I keep in my car? Had I washed it? Where would I have done that? Napa, but I don't think I did.
The next time I looked, the sheet was in my car. I brought it down the the campground on the river at Fief's.
